Sarkofagmarschen (S) Fra en anden version e. Börjes Olle berettes:During the winter of 1856 a heavy coffin of porphyry ( a sarcophagus built in memory of King Karl 14 Johan, who died in 1844) was drawn by hand from Älvdalen to Gävle by 178 men. Folkmusiciens accompanied the procession to keep up the spirits of the “Kings horses”. The tune shown here is from a simplified version which was played after the Mora fiddler Hins Anders original tune. The Rättvik fiddlers took over from Hins Anders when he was afflicted by frostbite on the 17-day long journey – once they have been promised extra “rations”. Indspillet på:
